On August 22 and 23, the Bainbridge High School drama department held auditions for Shrek the Musical JR. The judges at the audition were Leigh Powell, JoAnn Moore, and Christopher Poppell. Students who attended were required to learn an excerpt from the song “Freak Flag” from the musical, which is written by David Lindsay-Abaire and Jeanine Tesori. The students learned the words and practiced singing the song, and then moved on to learning a dance. Afterward, the students split into groups of four and performed in front of the judges. Next, the students were required to do a cold read for the characters. Students read from multiple scenes containing the main characters, as well as side characters.

The first practice for Shrek the Musical JR. will be on September 1 and will be a complete read-through of the script.
