The BassCats, Bainbridge High School’s fishing team, have been a part of the community for almost 11 years. They have begun this year’s fishing season as the school year has started. The fishing season is year-round for the club level and from January to May for the varsity level. Mr. Roy Matthews, the advisor of BassCats, stated that the team’s goals for this season are “to be competitive on the trails that we fish locally, as well as for our high school team to be competitive in GHSA (Georgia High School Association).” The next local tournament that they will be attending is on September 10 at Big Jim’s Restaurant in Donaldsonville, Georgia. BassCats must attend three of these tournaments to qualify for the local championship.
