No Tech Tuesday is a Tuesday morning initiative in the media center that provides teens with non-technological activities. Ms. Claudia Montague has been reading about teens who intentionally give up technology in order to feel more in control of their lives, and she has had teachers tell her that students are tired of being on chromebooks all the time. As a result, Ms. Montague stated that she “considered adding a Maker Space to the library, but without technology!” The BHS Media Center currently offers four activities: board gaming upstairs with Mr. Kyle Kelley, scrapbooking downstairs with Mrs. Kaye Hutto, cross stitching downstairs with Ms. Montague, and a Reading Corner. Students can sign up to participate by using the QR codes posted on the front of the Media Center door. They can simply use the camera on their chromebook to scan the QR code and it will take them straight to the Google form to sign up. They have several slots left in cross stitching and scrapbooking and plenty of room in gaming and reading.
