Mrs. Melanie Myers is from Cairo, GA, she graduated from Cairo High School. After high school, she attended the University of Georgia where she earned an Associate’s Degree in Middle Grades Education. At Valdosta State University she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish Education, a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Specialist Degree in Instructional Technology and Media. She also has a certification in Early Childhood Education, a Reading Specialist endorsement, and a Gifted endorsement.
Myers states that her strengths as a teacher are that she wants her students to enjoy learning, so she tries to create activities in which the students can have fun, and her weaknesses are that she often cares too much and causes herself to stress and worry about things she cannot control. She frequently emails parents to reach out to them about their child, but she also enjoys talking with parents in the community while attending extracurricular activities for the students.
She left her last teaching position at West Bainbridge Elementary to come to Bainbridge High School because Mr. Roy Mathews offered her the opportunity to teach Spanish. She sees herself still teaching Spanish in five years because she loves every minute of it. Mrs. Meyers really cares about her classes saying, “Classroom management to me is based on respect. My classes are my family and I want each student to be respected and to be respectful. There are times to have fun and times to be serious.”
Mrs. Melanie Myers loves to work out and teach classes here at BHS and at Bainbridge YMCA during the week.
