On Friday, February 24, Bainbridge High School hosted the Region 1-4A Literary Competition at the Kirbo Center. Bainbridge’s students competed against Cairo and Westover in four main categories that had their own subdivisions: Music, Extemporaneous Speaking, Literary Interpretation, and Essay. In the Music category, Sanaa Hines placed second in Girl’s Solo; Cooper Genovar placed second in Boy’s Solo; Mya Backey, Lily Byrd, and Gurpreet Kaur placed third in Girl’s Trio; and Cooper Genovar, Kendrick Henry, Eli Logue, and Cameron Whigham placed second in Boy’s Quartet. In Extemporaneous Speaking, Jebson Logue placed second in Domestic and Holten Dollar placed second in International. In the Literary Interpretation category, Isabelle Campbell and Emily Franke placed second in Duo, Teri McCord placed second in Dramatic, and Saraiyah Porter placed first in Humorous. In Essays, Ava Prouse got first place in Argumentative, Emma Thompson won first place in Literary Analysis, and lastly Alex Hatcher got first place in Personal. All first place winners qualify to compete at State on March 18. Let’s all congratulate these Bearcats and wish our first placers good luck at state.
