Musical Flow With Mr. William Parker
Bainbridge Raised Band Director Mr. William Parker
October 24, 2022
Mr. William Parker was born in Bainbridge, Georgia, and is the youngest of two boys; he has an older brother named John Parker. Mr. Parker graduated from our own Bainbridge High School before attending Troy University for his undergraduate degree and Auburn University for his master’s degree in Music Education. Mr. Parker says he became Band Director because “he has always enjoyed all aspects of music and has always wanted to have a positive impact on students.” Mr. Parker’s strengths as a great teacher include a heart for students and a passion for music.
After six years of teaching at Straughn High School in Andalusia, Alabama, Mr. Parker decided to return home and teach at Bainbridge High School. Mr. Parker hopes to “either continue to work as the assistant band director or the head band director here at BHS” in the next five years.
He would like to thank many teachers for assisting him in reaching his current position. Mr. Sewell and Mr. Ward, his middle and high school band teachers, inspired him to pursue a career in music and education. Dr. Mark Walker continued to push him to do his best in college. He also wishes to express gratitude to our Lord and Savior, saying, “I would not be anywhere without my Lord and Savior giving me the gifts to teach and the opportunity to have an impact on young people.” He would also not be the man he is today if it weren’t for his wife, Catie Parker, who is a music teacher at West Bainbridge Primary. With Mrs. Catie Parker, he has two beautiful children: Ellie Parker and Emma-Cait Parker.
